Registration
Registration Process
To complete the registration process, it is necessary for you to come to our store. When you arrive, we will first review our studio schedule to ensure that we have an available time slot that fits into your personal routine. Once we have agreed upon a time of day and day of week, we will complete our Student Registration form. Here we will record your personal contact information, the course of study you are entering, the instrument you will be using for practice, your studio schedule time, and any previous musical training you may have had.
The Student Registration form requires the signature of a person of legal age. If you are registering as an adult age 18 or over, your own signature is all that is necessary. If you are registering for an adult other than yourself, we need the signature of the person who is assuming responsibility for fee payments. If you are registering for a child under the age of 18, we need the signature of a parent, a grandparent, or a legal guardian.
The final step in the registration process is the payment of a $40 registration deposit. This deposit is paid in addition to regular lesson fees but is refundable when you leave the school. To receive your refund, simply give us two weeks notice of your intention to leave and ensure that all your lesson payments are up to date.
Studio Schedule
When you select your schedule time, that half hour time period becomes your time slot in our school's weekly schedule. You simply show up each week at your assigned time and your teacher will be waiting to take you in. There will be no contact from the school regarding your schedule unless we have an emergency which prevents us from delivering your lesson.
There are no refunds for lessons that are unattended except for those we are not able to deliver. We do not provide make-up lessons, partly because we do not have the studio space to do so and partly because it is a considerable imposition for a teacher to set aside time for two lessons while being paid for just one.
Fees
Our lessons are based on a rate of $20 for each half hour session. Fees are due in advance at the beginning of each month for all of that month's lessons. To calculate the monthly amount, simply count the number of lessons that will occur on your lesson day and multiply by $20. Fees are due by the first lesson of each month.
In essence, we are asking you to make a monthly commitment to us and to your musical undertaking. As an incentive for you to honour that commitment, we have made a policy decision that no partial month's payment will be refunded if you leave before the month is completed. Your registration deposit, however, will be refunded if there are two weeks or more remaining in the month in which you drop out.
We hope you understand that disciplined administration of lesson fees is a necessary part of operating a school like ours. We trust you will find that the lesson fees you pay are a small consideration when compared to the lifetime benefits gained by the members of your family who are introduced to the value of music.
